The Forces Around Us...
We have been learning about simple machines and the forces which when applied to them make them work.
Some of the forces we have learnt about are: gravity, buoyancy, magnetism, & friction.
Over the past two weeks we have rotated through a variety of hands on, fun investigations finding out about:
* the magnetic forces between magnets and magnetic objects;
* the push and pull of forces and the friction which causes a rocket balloon to move across the classroom on a string at different speeds;
* the effect of buoyancy on a plasticine boat, why did it sink the first few times?;
* the effect of gravity on a parachute;
* the effect of friction on lifting a jar of rice or moving a shoe across a surface.
