GIANT POPPY:
We have been studying about ANZAC Day and learning the importance of the ANZACs to New Zealand History. With the importance of the ANZAC 100 years, we participated in the Giant Poppy Campaign, each student writing their own personal message on a red metal disc which was displayed for the ANZAC celebrations at the Auckland Museum. Check out the Giant Poppy link.
ANZAC MEMORIAL:
Some of the Senior Students at school involved in Ms Flavell's OEC Literacy class researched about the ANZACs and the local fallen heroes. They created a display of Memorial Crosses for us to visit and read stories they had written.
ANZAC DAILY FIVE:
We have had an ANZAC Daily Five up and running since the beginning of term two which has provided the students with some background information on ANZAC Day and has further broadened their knowledge and enquiring minds.
